PORT HARDY
The trout fishing has been good this year at Port Hardy as the small lakes started producing early with the advent of a warm spring. In the larger lakes the gang troll and flat fish, the black glitter, Frog and Coho are the best colors in a F4 or F5 for trout. The trout Baitrix halo green has been good the last two years for very large trout and can be fished with or without a gang troll. A fly fished at all the feeder creeks coming in to the lakes will
give results using dark colored flies for wet flies and are always a winner. Be sure to purchase your fishing licenses which are renewable on April first.
Halibut fishing has been good with a few larger fish coming in and lots of halibut between 15- to 30-pounds. Use jigs for the bigger fish, and spreader bars with power grubs or whole herring for the smaller fish.
